Lloyd Jones and Jamie Brauer have joined forces to form a dynamic real estate development firm and the experience and talent that they bring to the business is the foundation of Canopy’s long-term strategy. It is a strategy built on one vision with two critical components. Their vision is to create a legacy in residential and commercial development, one that “partners” with the environment and reflects, in all aspects of development, a long-term commitment to responsible stewardship of the environment. They recognize that a long-term, return on investment in 21st century real estate must include a return on environmental investment. Working in tandem, they take a co-leadership role in the two basic components of their vision.


  1. •Lloyd Jones, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, is mandated to ensure that the long-term, aggregate value of Canopy’s projects achieve two goals: i) Deliver the requisite return on investment; and ii) Provide responsible stewardship of the environment. Lloyd’s leadership role focuses on managing the company’s strategic intent, building a legacy.

  2. •Jamie Brauer, as President and Chief Operating Officer, is mandated to achieve the specific objectives of each and every project, from land acquisition and approvals to architectural design and construction. Jamie’s role is to manage every facet of the company’s operational performance.

Lloyd Jones, an engineer and retired president of Zircatec Precision Industries, began looking for major real estate investments in 2004. One of the properties he found was a wonderful expanse of land (over 550 acres) along the shores of Lake Ontario. He was not the first to see the potential for this particular piece of property, now called the Village of Young Cove, but unlike those before him, he had a very different vision. It was a rare place, where the beauty of nature instilled a need for responsible stewardship. His vision was to find a way to provide for others the opportunity to live responsibly with the abundance of nature and history that has been in place for centuries.


As Chairman and CEO of Canopy Corporation, Lloyd set out to find a partner to help build his vision. He met Jamie Brauer, President of Brauer Homes. Jamie too saw the potential and shared the vision. He was the builder, craftsman and quintessential project leader needed to turn the vision into reality. Canopy Corporation now has a number of projects under development.

Jamie Brauer, President of Brauer Homes, has been

in the home building and development business for twenty years and he has built a reputation for Brauer Homes that is second to none. With its genesis in custom-home building, the brand, Brauer Built, has become a homebuyer’s symbol of quality and assurance. And the company comes by it naturally. Jamie is a true craftsman – some say perfectionist. On one occasion, as a special interest project, he took on the project management for the complete building of one of the famous Lake Muskoka boats, the Wenonah II. For the Muskoka Historical Society, he constructed, from the keel plate up, the entire boat. Obviously, he knows a thing or two about craftsman, quality and building, which helps to ensure that Brauer Homes provides exceptionally designed and constructed homes as well as a full range of services and expertise, from the raw land stage to move-in, which includes, planning, design, project management, marketing and sales.
